Tree Care Tips

Treatment: Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

EAB has cut a wide swath of destruction across a large portion of the United States, including Illinois and the stateline area. More than 99% of ash trees that have been attacked have been killed (less than 1 in 1,000 survive). This has had massive impacts in both urban settings as well as forests.

What you can do: Not every ash tree needs to be removed.  Depending on the relative health of your ash trees, and their value to your property, Tree Care Enterprises can recommend on, and apply, a treatment that has proven highly effective in almost every case. TREE-age® is an insecticide that we apply as a trunk injection at the base of the ash tree. Since it’s injected into the tree’s vascular system and not sprayed on the tree’s leaves or bark, it has no effect on animals, birds or insects that land or live on the tree. Instead, TREE-age kills 100% of the EAB larvae that feed on the leaves of the treated tree. Treatment takes place every three years. Call 815-965-5757.
