For 44 years and counting, Tree Care Enterprises has been the Stateline leader for the care, removal and installation of trees. Our arborists are the best in the tree business. We’re there for you, after a storm of the century, in response to borer blights — and always on the move, restoring, nurturing and tending to our precious green spaces, whether residential or commercial, large and small. We’re ‘totally tree care’, offering the full range of services, from landscaping to lawn mowing, irrigation to snow removal.

Finally, our Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Accreditation is an acknowledgment of the work we do to maintain best practices and the highest standards. Part of that process involves continuous training. Our high-climbing crews and certified Arborists specialize in aerial work requiring exceptional skills, expertise and, above all, an understanding of safety. At Tree Care, we are unsurpassed in keeping our teams, and the projects they work on, safe.

OUR HISTORY

Establishing Roots, Growing Strong, Since 1978...

1978

John Richards established Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. in September 1978. John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University in 1977. Soon thereafter he started Tree Care Enterprises as a one-man operation.

A short time later Doug Edwards was hired. Doug is now the Vice President in charge of operations. John Richards is still President and involved with running Tree Care on a daily basis. John and Doug are two of our eight Certified Arborists.

1988

In 1988, we added Tree Care’s landscape group. Since then we have designed and installed complete landscapes, sidewalks, driveways, patios, retaining walls and ponds, as well as landscape lighting.

1990

In 1990, Tree Care Enterprises purchased Forest Hills Grounds Management assets and entered the irrigation and maintenance business.

2000

In 2000, John purchased Forsgren Landscaping, a well established landscape and maintenance company, owned by Lennart Forsgren for 50 years. This move provided us with several more experienced employees and new client opportunities.

2007

In 2007, Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. became a Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) accredited company. This prestigious recognition is awarded to only the finest and most professional companies. We then created a safety position and formed an employee safety committee.

2008

In 2008, Kurt Weidner and Doug Edwards attended a Certified Tree Care Safety Program (CTSP) to support the company’s commitment to continuing education and safety. This extensive program works with the company’s training staff to develop safety and training programs for the current work force.

This advanced training system will enable Tree Care Enterprises to employ a work force that has been properly trained in all aspects of the Green Industry. Worker safety, safe work zones and industry standards create the backbone of the current curriculums being developed. Both Kurt and Doug have worked in the Green Industry and have extensive experience in the emergency response field. From the beginning, Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. has operated on the basis that quality work from professional and knowledgeable employees would make us a successful company.

2015

Reuse, Reduce Recycle: We start producing our own mulch and topsoil.

Every year, hundreds of tons of trees, trimmings and brush once destined for the landfill or burning now live on as much-needed mulch and topsoil for Tree Care Enterprises’ landscaping projects. It’s lean, ‘green’ and, most importantly, clean. Our topsoil is free of the harmful contaminants you often find in topsoil that comes from many commercial sources.

2022

When it comes to safety: no shortcuts!
Tree Care Enterprises takes safety more seriously than most. Safety training for all of our employees is a process that never ends. Most recent example: our Jeremy Montana and Matt Richards successfully complete the Certified Treecare Safety Professional Course (CTSP) through the Tree Care Industry Association. TCIA’s CTSP program is the only safety credentialing program in the industry and is designed to address several critical safety challenges that tree care companies face.

TCE attends a First Aid, CPR, and AED class for the employees to all become certified.

Tree Care Enterprises Wins National Recognition
Tree Care Enterprises has been named one of the nation’s Top-20 accredited tree care companies by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). TCIA is the industry’s leading organization, with accreditation programs designed to raise industry safety and professionalism to the highest levels. Based on auditor visits, workers’ comp modification rates and overall commitment to safety, Tree Care Enterprises was among those 20 companies that scored the highest.
